For millennia, life and wine inhabit together this part of the
Veneto region between the Tagliamento river, on the eastern side,
and the Livenza river on the western side. Native's from Veneto
gave special attention and care to vine growing and farming.
They kept it through the Roman domination and during the various
cultures and civilizations that developed after Roman times.
At the end of the First World War, many landowners started
planting vineyards with the help and assistance of the
Enological Center of Conegliano. The Second World War sharply
reduced the expansion of viticulture and enology that resumed
their development in the 1950's and 1960's when important local
wineries were born.
The DOC area LISON-PRAMAGGIORE is comprehended in the extreme
Venetian borderline that includes the municipalities of Annone Veneto
and Pramaggiore. Just in a little neighborhood of Pramaggiore,
the enological rebirth of Eastern Veneto took place with a
special wine: Tocai. At the beginning of the 19th Century,
were separated (from other white grapes) and chosen for the
first time Tocai grapes for wine-making.
In the 1971, Tocai was acknowledged with the DOC Denomination LISON.
In 1972, Cabernet Franc and Merlot wines were also recognized with the
DOC PRAMAGGIORE. In 1985, the wine producers decided to unite the two
denominations in LISON-PRAMAGGIORE and the range expanded with
the introduction of seven other wines. At the present,
the wine-producing area of LISON-PRAMAGGIORE is undoubtedly
one of the most advanced in Italy, thanks to the steady commitment
of the producers who constantly aim at improving the quality of the
grapes and of the wines. Recently, within the area of production,
the Route (Strada) of the DOC wines LISON-PRAMAGGIORE has been created.

This route, which is also called Route of the Doges' Wines,
starts in Annone Veneto; by unwinding through a special and
unique enological-cultural-historical itinerary, it reaches
the towns, neighborhoods and vineyards of Eastern Veneto and Western Friuli.
Today elegant bottles with refined and precious labels were
uncorked but the masterpiece is the content of the bottles: the wine.
The wine-growers directly check the quality and origin of the raw material.
They choose the grapes in the vineyards, assigning only the first quality
ones to the production of great wines. In the last decades,
the wine producers have made an enormous quality step,
giving value to the excellency of the grapes with
precise techniques of cultivation and developing
an advanced technology in order to express the wine's most aromatic features.
We Italians have also educated ourselves to the quality of wine:
we certainly drink less but we learned to drink better and we
now pay attention to the marriage of wine and food.
